Cable conductors are divided into several categories

Mar 15, 2023

The first type of conductor is solid conductor, that is, the conductor is composed of a single conductor, including circular wire and sector wire. For large cross-section circular conductor core, in order to reduce skin effect, sometimes four and five segments are used to divide the core, and the divided core is mostly composed of sector wire.
The second type of conductor is the compacted stranded conductor, which has several sections, such as round, fan-shaped and tile-shaped, which can increase the flexibility and flexibility of the cable, and its compaction coefficient (or filling coefficient) can reach more than 0.9, that is, the gap section is less than 10%. The stranded wire core is compacted, which improves the stability of the conductor structure, reduces the outer diameter of the conductor, reduces the insulation and sheath materials, and thus reduces the weight and production cost of the cable, At the same time, it is conducive to realize the longitudinal water resistance of the conductor, which is the embodiment of the production capacity level of the factory. It is the most widely used cable conductor, but it is not a technical indicator to measure the cable quality.
3. Class 5 conductor is a general flexible conductor, which generally refers to a number of thin single wires twisted, and has a flexible performance that Class 2 does not have, that is, it is used as a conductor for general mobile cables.
4. Category 6 conductors are special flexible conductors, which are used for special mobile cables, such as welding machine tap wires.
Among them, five types of conductors and six types of conductors are divided into tinned copper conductors and tinless copper conductors.
The most common conductor material is copper. We all know that copper includes bare copper (called brass and red copper), tinned copper, silver-plated copper wire, etc. These are essentially copper, but the surface is coated with other substances. Now there are copper clad aluminum and copper clad steel conductors on the market.
